The success of the Volusia Literacy Council depends largely on the ongoing financial support of generous donors, and the enthusiastic participation of dedicated volunteers.
From one-on-one tutoring to special events, there are numerous opportunities for volunteers to make a real and lasting difference in the lives of adult students who rely on the Literacy Council’s help. Volunteers are needed for the following:
Literacy Tutor – All you have to do is attend a free tutor training session, and commit to meeting and working with a student once or twice a week. No teaching experience is necessary, but current and former educators are especially welcome.
Office Support – It might not be glamorous, but the behind-the-scenes clerical support is a tremendous help to our office staff.
Special Events – The Council holds a number of fundraising events throughout the year, each of which requires the assistance of volunteers who help with the one hundred and one details – from food and decorations, to parking cars, to registration and more.
Committees – The board relies on the collective time and talents of committee members for each special event and fundraiser. Whatever skills and resources you have, the Literacy Council can use your help.
The Volusia Literacy Council is a 501(C)3 organization. Your tax-deductible gift will make it possible for us to serve more adult learners in Volusia County than ever before. Please consider making a contribution.
